About Us and Our Adoption Policy
Our rescue is run by dedicated volunteers, Anne, Janet & Dave. We do not have kennels, most of the dogs we rescue are from local authority pounds.and other various sources.
Most dogs in pounds will be euthanised after the statutory seven days irrespective of breed or age.
Our aims at HDR is to rescue and rehome all dogs that have been abandoned, strayed, unwanted, or just need rehoming due to a change in family circumstances.
We aim to assess every dog whilst with us in foster (minimum of 4 weeks) this gives us chance to deal with any health problems and to make sure the right dog goes to the right home.
We aim to offer information, help and advice. We will pass on information of other organizations, (breed rescues, training and behaviour etc) if we are unable to offer specific information.
All dogs will be vaccinated, spayed/neutered (on vets advice) microchipped, frontlined and wormed, before being re homed. All dogs will have one month’s free insurance.
Puppies will come with one month’s free insurance, one years free tractec, a puppy pack and food.
Puppies/Dogs under 6 months can not be spayed/neutered and must therefore be spayed/neutered (with a vets advice) as soon as possible. This is part of the adoption contract to be signed by all adopters.
Most vets now have schemes for people in receipt of benefits to qualify you must receive,
Income support, child tax credit, council tax benefit, & housing benefit.
These benefits will allow you to have your pet spayed/neutered for around £35.00.
The PDSA also give treatment to people in receipt of the above benefits. They have fixed fees for some surgical procedures and a donation scheme for other treatments.
An adoption fee of £150 is requested on completion of the adoption contract.
This can be lowered or waived by the rescue co-ordinator in certain circumstances.
All donations are used purely for the treatment, care and welfare of our dogs.
PLEASE NOTE: ALL HOMES ARE THOROUGHLY CHECKED BEFORE AN ADOPTION IS APPROVED.
Any information you provide is for our records only. No information is passed to any other organisation or third party

"The great thing about a dog is that you can make a fool of yourself in front of him and not only will he not scold you, but he will frequently make a fool of himself, too." - Unknown
