MAY NEWS LETTER
Hi everyone it's me again Banjo.
Hello everyone Banjo here,
Sorry it’s been so long but the news letter is going to be quarterly now as everyone is so busy.
I have been on holiday (well mum did) me I went to kennels with Rooney & Fergie and I have to say I didn’t like it one little bit no home comforts there let me tell you.
Where was my big bed, I didn’t have one, no cuddles only those two to cuddle up to at night urgh!
I missed my mum and didn’t eat so I had lost a little weight.
Mum cried when she saw me (milk it boy milk it) so I sulked a little whilst the other two went loopy at seeing every one. Me I played it cool for a couple of days and mum said she wouldn’t send me there again, but where will I go (watch this space).
Those poor dogs that have to stay in kennels waiting for a new home, they must be scared wondering what will happen to them. I am so lucky having a loving home. If you are thinking of getting a new pet please remember all the dogs in pounds desperate for a loving new home.
WWFN (woof woof for now).
Kisses to everyone ..
Banjo
From Anne
Banjo and I have been in training this month, my beautiful baby Banjo had major problems with other dogs when we were out walking, I thought he just wanted a piece of every dog he saw. How wrong was I. I enlisted the help of Tim James our dog trainer and behaviourist.
Banjo was bullied by a giant Jack Russell (that's what he thinks) when he was about 8 months old and since then I have kept him on an extending lead when out, it wasn't any fun not be able to let him off for a good old run. You hear horrible stories about some trainers shouting and being rough on dogs. Tim is very calm and is firm but doesn't raise his voice instead he gives you the confidence to handle and train your dog which in turn gives your dog his confidence back. I have had only two lessons with Tim and the difference is amazing.
Banjo walks to heel sits, down and stays on command whilst dogs walk by in close proximity. It is a pleasure to walk him now, he is confident again. If your dog has issues it is more than likely something we have created, seriously consider some training. You don't need to book a whole course of lessons you can have as many or as little as you think appropriate.
The rewards of a well behaved dog our priceless. A personal thank you to Tim from me and of course from Banjo.
On a different note, Sophie the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is now down to 16kg, well done Sarah for all your hard work.
Anne.
Happy Endings
On Sunday 25th April I received an email from Sue at My Moggy regarding an elderly Lakeland Terrier who had been taken from the garden and was seen being abused by two boys.
Two girls rescued Brass who was last seen in the Queens town flats area, the girls did call the owner's saying they would return Brass. That didn't happen and the owners and family were frantic looking everywhere around Blackpool but sadly to no avail. They really thought Brass was lost forever.
On Wednesday 7th May I took a call from PC Steve Talbot asking for our help for a little terrier dog who was blind in one eye. It did ring a bell and I mentioned Brass, he looked at the website and said it wasn't the same dog. Little did we know the picture was only a likeness not one of Brass.
So now we needed to find a foster home for this little one.
I called Linda at Ninelives and she agreed to give the little one a home, PC Talbot took the little one to Linda. We thought that was it she would stay with Linda until a new home was found for her.
On Thursday Sue from my moggy went round to Linda's house and instantly recognised the little terrier it was Brass. Sue took the little one back to Sandra and David who were over the moon to get her back and Brass thankfully is none the worse for her experience.
We now know why we do what we do!
This story makes it all worthwhile. Rescues working together have reunited Brass with her family.
Best wishes to all of you.
From everyone at HDR.
Blackpool 10k FUN RUN
Firstly we have to say a great big thank you to Phil and Dave for doing the 6.2 miles and for raising a massive £320. This will pay for a few dogs to be neutered and vaccinated.
Paul was fantastic as our mascot, he was being followed around by children and dogs alike, he managed to make a few cry too! (scared of a giant talking dog).
Poor Chris chasing the runners trying to take photos (on his bike by the way). On yer bike Chris! Well done and thank you.
We had a great day and are looking forward to next year with even more runners.
A great big thank you to everyone who kindly sponsored Phil & Dave.
Bev thank you your for powers of persuasion (You know what I mean).
Well done to all the runners lots raised for lots of charities.
