Sophie The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel

WARNING These images will shock.

We have all heard the expression killing with kindness, utter rubbish!! In this case it is just killing.

Sophie should weigh around 8-9Kgs she in fact weighs around 17kgs - double her body weight.
She is so FAT she can walk no more than 4-5 steps, she has to be supported when going to do her toilet.

Her body had the worst sort of flea infestation you can imagine and being so FAT she couldn't even have a good old scratch can you possibly imagine the torture she went through, her skin and coat are in the worst state you could possibly imagine.

Sophie has all sorts of problems relating to the weight problem our main concern is she could have a heart attack without warning.
She is currently being cared for by Sarah who has worked hard this weekend getting the flea infestation under control and of course Sophie is on the strictest of diets.

We are sure once her weight is reduced the other problems will improve too and hopefully Sophie will have a much better quality of life.
We will keep you posted on Sophie's progress.

A big thank you to Sarah for all she has done for Sophie and welcome to HDR

Sophie went to the vets today 29/04/2009 - she had another injection and had to have her anal gland cleared again and she has lost weight She weighed in at 17.35kgs on Friday today she weighed 17.1kgs so we are heading in the right direction.

Sarah is doing extremely well and is rigid with Sophie's diet. Another update next week after her weekly weigh in.

SOPHIE UPDATE:

Sophie is no longer up for adoption.

Sarah has worked so hard getting Sophie where she is today.
Sophie still has ongoing health problems which will be with her for life. Her weight is now 13.4 kgs a dramatic improvement which has enabled her to go for walks which she now looks forwarded to.
She can go to the toilet twice daily unaided. The down side Sophie has Cushings Disease and the problem with her leg too which may be inoperable. Also an under active thyroid and the terrible skin problems.

Sarah is taking Sophie to a bone specialist to see what can be done, despite all the problems Sophie has a much better quality of life and Sarah has grown so attached that Sophie will remain where she is.

We will keep you updated on Sophie’s progress.

An enormous thank you to Sarah for all her hard work and dedication to Sophie.
